The Junction Area Toronto Neighbourhood
The Junction Area Neighborhood is located near the West Toronto Diamond, which is the area where four railway tracks pass by towards the East and bordered by the area North of Annette St, South of St. Clair St. The Junction was previously called the "West Toronto" neighborhood, and was also an independent city prior to being combined with the City of Toronto in the 1900s. The neighborhood's main intersection is Dundas Street West and Keele.
With a shopping district on Dundas Street West, this area is ideal for anyone, as it is close to many amenities such as schools, parks (such as High Park, which is just South), and libraries. The Junction also attracts many for its well-priced homes, between
The Stockyards is a retail block full of stores which include Metro, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Future Shop, Rona, Staples, and Target, as well as other small stores. This area was previously Canada's largest livestock market and the center of Ontario's meat packing industry.
Large houses line the main streets along with apartments with 2+ units. Red brick Victorian houses also line the streets north of Annette Street with rooftop turrets and front porches, and smaller, much simpler Victorian houses are found nearer to Dundas street. 2 storeys and bungalos, contemporary and modernly renovated throughout the ownership of many owners.
The Junction is an ideal neighborhood for families, artists, and entrepreneurs, with a high sense of culture for art and is a very active community. One of the neighborhood's yearly highlights includes its Junction Arts Festival. The Junction BIA also hosts a Summer Solstice Festival, Music Festival, and participates in the Toronto city-wide Contact Photography Festival.
